The RCC Board

Jude Piarulli, President

Jude is the president of the RCC board and a member of the choir. You may have guessed that she is Ken’s wife.

Jude loves being a grandmother and singing soprano in the choir. Her other interests are kayaking, hiking, camping and reading. She is also an active and enthusiastic supporter of Ken in his direction of the choir.

She and Ken moved to Redmond from New York in July 2018. Jude has a B.A. in Economics from SUNY Oswego and spent her career in Human Resources.

Rick Hoffman, Treasurer

Rick has been singing in choirs since 5th grade. High school allowed a choice between chorus and band, and the trombone took priority, although the Methodist church provided a singing outlet. Church choirs and occasionally men’s gospel choruses allowed a diversity of experiences.

During absences of trained directors, Rick has filled in to continue the music ministry and has attended choral directing conferences. But group singing is his love.

Rick’s wife, Jean, is a flutist and singer and makes sure that the intonation is appropriate! As a retired veterinarian, there is now more time for music, travel, and fly-fishing. Rick has been a long time volunteer and board member of Redmond Community Concert Assoc., and now is proud to serve on the board of RCC.

Pam Leszar, Secretary

After retiring from jobs in the insurance and investment industries, Pam moved from the Portland area to Redmond in 2014 with her husband John. She joined the choir when it began in September of 2019 and performed its first Christmas concert that December. She appreciates that no auditions are required to participate, and that all singing levels are welcome.

Pam enjoys spending time with family and friends; watching her grandsons play sports; golfing; making soap, making sourdough bread; posting to her blog, The Stuff of Life; playing the piano, singing soprano in the choir and watercolor painting.

Sherie Neff, Board Member

Sherie is delighted to serve on the RCC Board in helping to further the goals of bringing wonderful choral music to our community and beyond!

She is grateful for a lifetime of musical experiences - from school and church choirs and ensembles to The Central Oregon Mastersingers and the Central Oregon Harmonettes, an “Andrews Sisters style” trio.  Sherie has been involved with many local music theater organizations over the past 30 years, performing on stage in Broadway musicals, operas, and in dinner theater productions.

Sherie retired from a career in Elementary Education but continues to teach part time with Grace Academy, a hybrid program that supports homeschool students. She loves spending time with her daughter Kimmie, and grandson Liam and, of course, singing with the Redmond Community Choir!

Jon Voskuil, Board Member

Jon and his wife Susan fell in love with Redmond on a road trip in 2013, spent seven summers here, and finally moved here from New Hampshire in 2020.

Early in their married life Jon was a pastor for eight years, and then worked 30 years as a technical writer. Susan was an elementary school teacher, and later a foster mom to 25 newborns. After which they're now retired, with their two kids, two kids-in-law, and seven grandkids all living in the Northeast.

They heard about the choir in a COCC newsletter. Terrified by having little to no experience singing in a choir, they joined in spring 2024, and have been awestruck ever since by the joy of making music together.

Jon also likes woodworking and tech stuff; Susan does pottery and watercolor; and both love reading.

Laurie Phillips, Board Member

Originally from NJ, Laurie moved from Portland to Redmond in 2019 after retiring from a nursing career. Her first retirement goal was to join the Redmond Community Choir. Due to the COVID hiatus, her RCC adventure began in 2022.

Her love of music was inspired by family members. Her older brother, shortly after graduating from high school, directed a choral group in their home. This dedicated group of young singers demonstrated the magic that working together can create.

Her younger cousin became a concert pianist and professor of music. He still performs.

Laurie’s own experience includes high school chorus and church choir. She traveled to Romania in 1972 with a select group from her school for a 3-week singing tour. They performed concerts all over the beautiful country. Annual Messiah sing-alongs in Portland have been a tradition for over 30 years.

Being part of RCC has been a meaningful, challenging, and FUN experience. Laurie considers it a honor to also serve as a board member.
